PLACES TO VISIT IN NEPAL

Nepal is a beautiful country with stunning landscapes, old age culture, and epic trekking trails good for the adventure travelers. Sad to say, we didn’t do the trail, we had limited days to spend, and for we know, hiking needs more preparation, both physically and emotionally.

Since we landed first in Kathmandu, we tour around to see the majestic temples and palaces, the old-world streets and the crumbling structures. A city that never hides the flaws, but never failed to show the beauty and charm.

So here are the top sights.

  1. Durbar (Palace) Square

2.  Swayambhunath (Temple Monkeys)

This is located atop a hill west of Kathmandu city with way up 365 steep steps.

This is also a home to hundreds of monkeys considered holy to Tibetan Buddhists and Hindus.

3.  Boudhanath Stupa

Boudhanath Stupa is the largest religious temple in Nepal.  It is rich in symbolism: it has five statues of Dhyani Buddhas, representing the five elements (earth, fire, water, air and ether).

This food is LAFHING, a noodle dish seasoned with spices  that made from starches extracted either from potato or flour, and is cooked overnight.

Lassi. The best yogurt I’ve ever had in my whole life.  It’s a good shot on a  hot and sticky summer day.

Our favorite, Momos!, a bite-size dumplings with a meat or vegetable filling, wrapped in a dough accompanied by spicy dipping sauce. It’s a simple but delicious meal in Nepal.

Rice Wine (Raksi). This is my first time to taste at last! Raksi is a strong drink, clear like vodka or gin.  It’s strong on the nose and sends a burning sensation straight down your throat.

We enjoyed staying in Kathmandu for days. Our next trip will be in Phokara, known as a gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, a popular trail in the Himalayas, there we mostly have a good time.

See yah!
