Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned (2016 K-movie)

Four young kids, including Sung-Min (Lee Hyo-Je) and Soo-Rin (Shin Eun-Soo), take a trip to the mountain together. They plan to sneak into a restricted area to watch a planned explosion. The next day, Soo-Rin is the only one found. A few days later, Sung-Min (Gang Dong-Won) appears again, but he is not the same 13-year-old boy. Sung-Min is now adult.

This movie is a marvel to watch. It gives you a room to breathe your imaginations and experiences the mysterious fantasy that you have never been watched before.  The plot is so original and has most unique ways of portraying the concept of time; where you hope you could turn back the clock, but the reality is you can only move forward.  I feel this show has the theory of fatalism where we are powerless to do anything other than what we actually do.

The film has a lot of flavors as it deals with the matters of friendship, trust, and love.  It has a number of supernatural situations too, but at the same time, it touches the reality when it comes to emotional and psychological issues.  The two brilliant main cast never failed to seize their characters and upheld it to the end. You will love them, pity them and walked with them in their journey that is full of mystery.

For those who are skeptics, many holes in the story might be discerned, but for those who are willing to come into this kind of world, then prepare for heart breaking, a little joy moment and an ending which you opts for.

Verdict 10/10
