A POEM A DAY (K-drama 2018)

The story follows a group of physical therapists, nurses, radiological technologists, and trainees. Ye Jae-Wook works as a physical therapist and also teaches in the same field. He begins to work as a team leader at a hospital. Woo Bo-Young has been working as a physical therapist for 3 years. She wanted to become a poet, but due to her poor family background, she studied to become a physical therapist. Shin Min-Ho is a trainee, but he isn’t interested in physical therapy. His grades weren’t good enough for medical school and his parents, who are both doctors, made him study physical therapy.

A poem a day express with meaningful poetry while reflecting the lives of the ordinary people. While this drama shows as a slice of life, there is also a kind of humor where you can define the personality of every character presented.

I’d like to share some beautiful poems the represent the lives of our Protagonist.

Bo Young is kind and thoughtful. She loves poetry and wanted to study literature in college, but decided to be a physical therapist. She’s good and devoted to her job, but because she’s only a contractual worker, some good opportunities just fended off.

“Where is the flower that blooms without shaking?
Any of the beautiful flowers of this world
All bloom while being shaken.
They shake on stems that grow upright.
Where is the love that grows without shaking?
Where is the life that goes without being soaked?”

Dr. Ye is a skilled famous physical therapist. He’s known as an “advice machine”. He is distant and cold. He is Bo Young’s current love interest.

“It only rained after you left.
The rain turned into heavy rain
and I pictured you sitting on the bus with an upset expression on your face.
I felt my heart becoming sore.
There are times when people can’t be comforted by words.

It only rained after you left,
In every street corner where I send you off.”

Min Hoo is one of the trainees in the hospital; rich, brat and immature. He was Bo Young past love.

“I was happy because I met you
And I also suffered because I met you.
When I tossed and turned in bed while hugging a body
That no longer had feelings for me.

As I watched the tree and flowers gradually part ways
It was difficult to stand beside the tree.
It’s like watching yourself become a cruel person.
I was happy because I met you
And I also suffered for a long time because of you.”

Some people would think this drama is boring and has the usual thing, but definitely not. There are a lot of things to be learned. You will meet people who have the good heart despite being misunderstood and will gain some lessons of love and dedication.

Verdict: 9.5/10

“There is nothing special in poems. It only contains our lives that are the least bit spectacular.”
