Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms (Anime Movie 2018)

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.”

An immortal girl and a normal boy form a bond which lasts for many years.

This anime movie is weaving with love and sadness. The theme develops with the relationship between mother and child. How to become a good mother? what does it take to be the right one? The story surrounds with deep values of benevolence and motherhood.

It has a different taste of what I usually have seen in other movies of anime. It concealed its own unique style. And true, I wasn’t able to hold back my tears while watching it, it’s warm yet full of dismal.

Animation-wise, it’s gorgeous, the art is cultured and so the music is captivating. The characters development and the events of the time are all tied together neatly. But for me, this movie is more than just the art, it’s pitiful and beautiful.

Verdict: 9.5/10
