CROSS (K-drama 2018)

1519578995-954715555_m

A man becomes a doctor that uses medical practices to kill in order to get revenge on the person who brutally murdered his father.

Honestly, I never expected anything exceptional in this drama. Nowadays,  the thought of going to deal with “revenge” story is a little bit of tedious. However, after watching some few episodes, I find the story well fast-paced and full of suspense with solid performances from the main characters and of course a villain that you would really like to hate.

Along with the unexpected side, the sense of hunger for revenge cracked the opportunities to reveal big secrets behind and torn between saving people while sacrificing instances. This drama deals how to bring justice, to forgive, to accept the things that cannot be redone, to be strong from painful experiences.

When people made you suffer and took away the important people in your life, how would you like to be at peace? Put them behind the bars while justice serves or slay them with your naked hands?

This drama will answer everything.

Verdict: 8/9

TURBULENCE IN HEART

I asked myself when this gonna stop

because sadness started to unravel, one thread at a time.

No matter how much I cried,

even after consoling my heart,

still, my longing wouldn’t fade it out.

Just like the plane hit a lot of clouds during my flight,

going back to reality gives me the emotional turbulence

 I have never ever liked.

Missing home.

MOTHER (K-drama 2018)

dRPqdc

Hye Na, the young girl, is abused by her mother Ja Young. Although she is not okay, she tells other people she is alright. However, Soo Jin, a temporary teacher at Hye Na’s elementary school, becomes aware of her situation and impulsive decision to kidnap and become her mother.

“There are people who think that a woman becomes a mother only when she gives birth to a child. But A woman becomes a mother when she gives all of her to an existence smaller than her.”

Are you a good mom? how does it take to become a good one? Is it enough to call you a mom just after giving birth? Is your love enough to sustain and nurture your children’s emotions?

This drama is absolutely amazing, beautiful and brilliant. From episode one to the finale, it gives me a roller coaster of emotions. The message is for everyone to know about Child abuse and the aftermath. It really puts you into perspective.

Standing ovation for all the cast. Their acting is beyond amazing. What a breathtaking performances of their characters that will touch you down to your core. I like the twist and turns at every point and how I feel refresh after a good long cry.

A must watch drama. Verdict: 10/10

“A long time ago, there was a baby rabbit that wanted to run away. “Mom, I’m going to run away.” When the baby rabbit said that, the mother rabbit said, “If you run away, I’ll come after you Because you are my cute child.” Then, the baby rabbit said.”Then, I’ll become a fish and swim away.” Then, the mother rabbit said, “If you become a fish, I’ll become a fisherman and Bam! I’ll catch you.”

REMEMBER ME

I just love this animated fantasy film. It’s very inspiring and it showed us a lot of things to remember.

First, the importance of family and how to love and treasure them while they are still with us. Yes, friends or other people come and go, but our family will always be – to support, understand and love us over and over.

It was also told us that it’s never too late to forgive.

Always seize the moment. When opportunity comes and knocks on your door, take that chance without hesitation. Time comes only once and it will never come back again.

Coco strummed a major chord with me through the song of remember me as I always travelled and away from my family. It made me cry.

Remember me

Though I have to say goodbye

Remember me

Don’t let it make you cry

For even if I’m far away I hold you in my heart

I sing a secret song to you each night we are apart.

Remember me

Though I have to travel far

Remember me

Each time you hear a sad guitar

Know that I’m with you the only way that I can be

Until you’re in my arms again

Remember me.

HWAYUGI -KOREAN ODYSSEY (2017-2018)

A self-serving mythical creature’s bid for invincibility backfires when he finds himself at the mercy of a woman who can see otherworldly spirits. Son Oh Gong and King Woo Ma are in conflict with each other and they look for a true light in a dark world where evils exist everywhere. Adapted from the classic Chinese novel “Journey to the West,” but reinterprets the story into the present day and has romantic-fantasy twist.

This drama started with so much uniqueness because of the ravishing concept.  It has a mix of comedy, horror, love story and magic. The story is original and with a massive cast of actors gives a big plus in this drama. The actings are quite decent when it comes portraying their own characters. I like the two lead actors connection with each other, their presence highlighted the drama and the mix of seriousness and drolling are all well matched.

Korean Odyssey has the potential to be an ideal drama if the character of Seon-mihas emphasized lavishly but I feel dismayed. Her story seriously focuses on being in-love which became totally boring as the episodes pass.  They could have explored the mystery as what they have trying to fill and made her character more impressive to remember.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some pretty things about this show, it’s really hard not to watch but just like the rest, it has its own flaws. Despite, I truly enjoy the ride especially when it comes to feelings, friendship, decision making, sacrifices and a little twist of fate, this show is absolutely fantastic.

You better watch it.

Verdict: 9/10

YOU LIE IN APRIL (Anime)

img

Your Lie in April is the story of Kousei, a young piano prodigy who, after the death of his mother, had a mental breakdown and ultimately lost the ability to hear the music he played. Three years later, he meets his playboy best friend’s new girlfriend, Kaori—a free-spirited violinist who makes it her life’s mission to rekindle Kousei’s lost love for performing music on stage.

Your lie in April is a love story of two flawed teens brought together by their love of music. As I considered, this drama shows us the totally raging of two different situations; the battle of illness and the deep remorse of a child who was abused for the sake of his music.

I would call it also a deceitful masterpiece wherein at first it appears light-hearted, the songs are quite adorable, the visual was full of colorful pastels that lead you to the idea of being in love again, and yet it was more than that. The story is quite deeper, emotional and totally bittersweet.Though, there two sides who debated on this show- those who absolutely love it, and those that strongly dislike it, well I’m on the side of liking it. The characters of our spirited violinist who is confident, beautiful, fragile, strong-willed, and with Kosei’s black and white life, it was all simply blended into a chord of a vibrant journey.

With good art, music, likable characters and pain, I give this 9/10.

Spoiler: Why lie in April?  It’s all there in Kaori’s letter to Kousei.

LOOK UP AT THE STARS

“One, remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Two, never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. Three, if you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don’t throw it away.”

BEAUTIFUL GOODBYES

sad_anime_boy__new_version__by_monkeyddante-d8y6c9e

Count the ways I let you down.

On my fingers and toes but I’m running out.
Clever words can’t help me now.
I grip you tight but you’re slipping out.

And I remember your eyes were so bright.
When I first met you, so in love that night.
And now I’m kissing your tears goodnight.
And I can’t take it, you’re even perfect when you cry.

Beautiful goodbye.
It’s dripping from your eyes.
Your beautiful goodbye.
It’s dripping from your eyes.

tablet_sad-Hanabi-Yasuraoka-anime-girl-wallpaper

I’m never gonna let you close to me.
Even though you mean the most to me.
‘Cause every time I open up, it hurts.

So I’m never gonna get too close to you.
Even when I mean the most to you.
In case you go and leave me in the dirt.

But every time you hurt me, the less that I cry.
And every time you leave me, the quicker these tears dry.
And every time you walk out, the less I love you.
Baby, we don’t stand a chance, it’s sad but it’s true.

We’re way too good at goodbyes.

Beautiful goodbye.

Too good at goodbyes.

It’s dripping from our eyes.

Today’s Kira-Kun (J-movie 2017)

AtMNd2dP5mGZ3ldFkKzpN4P3gFK

Ninon Okamura (Marie Iitoyo) and Yuiji Kira (Taishi Nakagawa) live next door to each other, but they have not talked with each other at school. Ninon Okamura learns from her parents that Yuji only has a year to live. One day, Yuiji Kira tells Ninon Okamura that he doesn’t want to die and he doesn’t to be alone. Ninon Okamura tells him that she will be by his side until he dies.

This drama is not bad and not so very good. Because of its cuteness and pureness, it’s worth watching for. I like the two leads chemistry, their characters are not forceful and the development was spontaneous. I truly enjoyed the visual of our Yuiji Kira, he is so pretty.

Plot-wise, the story is not that original, we have seen several movies that deals on lovers with fatal illnesses. But what makes this movie significant is their relationship that both portray of their loneliness but was able to catch their time, simply supporting and loving each other. I think  this all we need in reality.

This movie is the live-action adaptation of the Japanese manga Kyo no Kira-kun written by Rin Mikimoto. They have said that mangga is better than this movie, obviously, in reading the story would be more detailed and it’ll explore your imagination.

Nonetheless, I give this 8/10.

FLYBACK HOME

Two of my favorites friends are going back home to the Philippines for good. It’s quite sad when good people leave, but we have to be happy and wish them luck on their next journey.

NO MEDICINE FOR REGRET

We need a goal in our life. It doesn’t matter if the picture is big or small. It doesn’t matter if we succeeded or not.

We can plan the life we wanted, but some doors were opened and part of is not.

Sometimes we lose our track, but we can choose to be a victim or still have the intent on arriving.

Blunders will tag along, either we take control or shrinks in failure, it’s up to us if we can live beyond what we are capable of.

What matters most is how we accompany our lives with taking the chances we have because, in the end, we don’t want to feel regret, there is no medicine for it.

For all the chances we take, we can console ourselves by saying, “at least I have given it an honest shot.”

BEER IT ALL.

A beer fills me awake for hours, causing me weak in my knees.

I can still sense my intellect but it keeps bragging in the midst.

I want to free myself, be ecstatic of all the substance I hate.

Delight my heart with resignation.

Be mindful without hesitations.

But only dead air rattles my imaginary taste.

What am I thinking? my thoughts asked what makes my soul haul this feeling?

While I’m sober, I can restrain my complaint,

but now with just a beer, it warns me strain.

I am dead tired, my whole body pains,

Not even a dozen of medicine could help it within.

Waking up in the middle of the night, unable to sleep again,

My soul is shouting, not needing to feel the pain.

Why it bothers me for all the things I cannot have?

Ever since I was young, I played this game a lot.

Why am I alone in my exhaustion?

Where are the people I called my own?

As I continuously think of silliness,

I couldn’t do anything, but to make this clear,

In this cruel, unbiased world, nothing seems will change,

Except the taste of this luscious fucking beer.

JUST BETWEEN LOVERS

Just-Between-Lovers.png

Lee Gang Doo (Lee Joon-Ho) dreamed of becoming a soccer player, but an accident ended those dreams. His father died in the accident and he broke his leg. Gang-Doo spent 3 years in rehab. Now, he doesn’t have anything and just wastes his days. Gang-Doo then meets Ha Moon Soo.
Moon Soo (Won Jin-A) makes architecture models, she also endured an accident that killed her younger sibling. Moreover, she has suffered from the guilt that she survived. She has lived her life earnestly while suppressing her feelings. After meeting Gang Doo, Moon Soo begins to express her hidden feelings.

Just between lovers is an excellent drama, with a lot of emotions. It played completely my heart by showing the tragic events of our protagonist and their connection to the other characters as well.  They have approached the love in a realistic manner where a kind of relationship you will fall for. It was delicate where two people grow individually and together.

The storyline hit me for sure, feeling all sorts of sentiments. The cinematography was beautifully combined with alluring OST.

Character-wise, it was deeply developed, never leave any small details to emphasize the intent. There weren’t really any “good or bad” characters. They just simply describe kinds of people struggling with life and their fears and that what makes the story more compelling.

Acting-wise, for both relatively amateur, it was beyond expectation. Their chemistry also was perfect, they just totally killed it emphasizing their vulnerability and sincerity.

A must watch drama, a real melodrama actually. I cried but ended up incredibly in love.

Verdict: 10/10
