A beer fills me awake for hours, causing me weak in my knees.

I can still sense my intellect but it keeps bragging in the midst.

I want to free myself, be ecstatic of all the substance I hate.

Delight my heart with resignation.

Be mindful without hesitations.

But only dead air rattles my imaginary taste.

What am I thinking? my thoughts asked what makes my soul haul this feeling?

While I’m sober, I can restrain my complaint,

but now with just a beer, it warns me strain.

I am dead tired, my whole body pains,

Not even a dozen of medicine could help it within.

Waking up in the middle of the night, unable to sleep again,

My soul is shouting, not needing to feel the pain.

Why it bothers me for all the things I cannot have?

Ever since I was young, I played this game a lot.

Why am I alone in my exhaustion?

Where are the people I called my own?

As I continuously think of silliness,

I couldn’t do anything, but to make this clear,

In this cruel, unbiased world, nothing seems will change,

Except the taste of this luscious fucking beer.

Do not rush to marry. Take it slow. Take your time.

Marriage is never a race. The fastest seldom wins.

But the one who starts right and perseveres throughout does.

Build friendship first. It will be your strongest foundation later on.

Remember, looks and talents are fleeting and so are material things.

What lasts are character and maturity.

Know your essentials. Don’t compromise these.

Learn to let go of some preferences too. They can be done without.

The delays and mishaps have its reasons. Forgive and forget. Look forward and move on.

Don’t dwell on the past also.

Never blame others and self for your mistakes.

Instead, learn and grow from them.

Just don’t keep on repeating them as that’s foolishness already.

Don’t get ahead with God by the way.

He knows what’s best for you. Just trust in Him.

Get busy working on yourself as you wait.

Improve and be the best person that you can be.

I got married at a ripe old age of 37.

I courted my wife for more than three years.

And we’re blessed with two cute daughters.

I married right. Not too early and not too late.

This sharing is my way of paying it to forward the goodness I receive from the Lord Almighty through my marriage.

Oh yes, marriage is a bliss indeed and a beautiful thing if done right.

Don’t miss this out for you deserve only the best.

I give a toast to the married and soon to be married people reading this.

Hanging out with you is one of the best choices to break the monotony of life. Something that I can do randomly without being pushed on how to act and talk in front of you, just like being together is spontaneous and effortless. I can imagine the simple, yet a perfect moment of our lingering. Taking time to breathe, to smell the fragrance of our coffee or tea, and the pleasant presence of each other.

There is no perfect time than to hang out with serenity and break my stress. The little luxury of the ordinary day sounds the antidote of all the misery of this world, that is why it is significant for me to hang out with you even so we don’t have anything to talk about, just have to be myself and laugh.

In a moment like this, I don’t need to brag to everyone that I’m having a good time. No burden to show them because this is palpable and soothing. With someone like you, a cozy place to stay on, a perfect cup to sip on, a smile on our faces, everything, yes everything is comforting and I don’t want to end.

Let’s hang out again!

I saw this picture from one of my cousin’s posts on the Facebook. I always admire him for taking care both of dogs and cats. It feels so warm to see how other people give attention to the social life of their pets, unlatched them from their cages and let them enjoy their wildlife.

Indeed, happy dogs are the prettiest dogs.

The Upside Down House Museum is inspired by the famous KL Upside Down House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and is considered as the first upside down house-inspired museum in Mindanao.

The designed is smaller and simpler, but still worthy of a visit.  They have also assured that they will change the museum’s concept every 18 to 24 months to keep everyone have something to look forward.

You can visit the museum at Dacudao Avenue, Davao City (fronting the Department of Labor Employment office). Entrance fee is P250.00/5USD for adults and P150.00/3USD for kids.

Have fun!

Burying something is quite backbreaking, but if we wanted to change ourselves to a new “me”, then let’s claim the certainty.

I appreciate the bad and the good events in my life. I appreciate the people around me; my family, friends, workmates, and strangers. I appreciate what I had and couldn’t have.

Thank you, Lord, for everything! The last year was challenging but full of blessings.

Happy New Year everyone!!

Love Rain (K-drama 2012)

It’s love at first sight when Seo In-ha (Jang Keun-suk) and Kim Yoon-hee (Im Yoon-ah) meet as shy university students in the seventies. It takes time for the hesitant pair to finally voice their feelings, but circumstances beyond their control send them down different paths. In 2012, In-ha (Jung Jin-young) is now unhappily married to Baek Hye-jung, one of Yoon-hee’s former best friends. He has never gotten over his first love, and when he runs into Yoon-hee (Lee Mi-sook) after so many years, the two reconcile and look forward to making up for lost time.

In-ha’s son Seo Joon (Jang Keun-suk) is a photographer, and he bumps into Yoon-hee’s daughter Jung Ha-na (Im Yoon-ah) by chance. Unlike her mother, Ha-na is a cheerful and vivacious girl, and though they initially find each other troublesome, even as they argue, they can’t help but be drawn to each other. Gradually their feelings develop, and Joon and Ha-na fall in love.Unaware that their children are dating each other, Seo In-ha (Jung Jin-young) and Kim Yoon-hee (Lee Mi-sook) announce that they are getting married, which will make Joon and Ha-na step-siblings. As both couples deal with the shock, Joon and Ha-na struggle with sacrificing their love for their parents’ long-aborted happiness

Love Rain starts very well and ends with a satisfactory appeal.

The setting from 1970’s, the customs, the hair, the clothing is fantastically perfect for me. Jumping to the year 2012, the storyline made me smile. Despite the low rating presented and negative reviews, for me, It has a warming style and quite nostalgic. What I like about this drama is the romantic excitement from several episodes which gladdens my heart and tickled my bone. This matters to me most.

Love always has two different sides – sadness and happiness.

Overall, I enjoyed the show a lot and definitely recommend it for you to watch. I love rain and I love you.

Verdict: 8/10

No doubt, our days have been occupied with a lot of things for Christmas celebration, and oftentimes we lost sight of the real meaning of it. Christmas, as we all know, is the celebration of the birth of our Jesus Christ and we should remind ourselves that this season brings magic to the eyes of Children.

Let’s surround ourselves with them and get infected with their real joy and excitement.

Indeed, Christmas is truly blessed when we still have the same warm feelings we had as Children. Enjoy the season and be like a happy child. ❤️

It’s my second Christmas here in the Philippines after nine years of working as an expat from Dubai. Obviously, there is no holiday celebration from any Middle East County, as far as I know, some Christian employees still tend to work on Christmas day, lucky for those who can excuse themselves from their employers and have a considerate co-worker to change shifts is a plus.

I feel favored that I can still go home without any issues from my workplace.  I cannot compare the celebration here with family and old friends, than in a place surrounded by fabulous lights and mighty buildings, but cannot see those familiar faces I long to be with.

So what it is like to celebrate Christmas in the Philippines? How do we Filipinos celebrate?

Well, I think nothing is different aside from that we welcome the spirit of Christmas from the first day of September (BER months) and does not end until the first week of January.  We begin to decorate the houses, establishments, and streets with Christmas ornaments. You can even hear early Christmas songs played on the radio and in the shopping malls.

Christmas Party and gift giving are always part of the Christmas celebration. Parties are celebrated with friends, business institutions, family gathering, and reunions.

Company gift giving to Employees
Christmas Party with Friends
Games for kids and adults.

While some are familiar with the Western tradition of leaving empty socks or stockings for Santa Claus to fill up with goodies while being a good kid.  Filipinos also have some customs and traditions on how we enjoy this season.

Simbang Gabi or Misa De Gallo.

One of the oldest Christmas traditions of Pinoy.  It is the nine-day dawn masses that start on December 16 and end on Christmas Day. We believe that when we complete the 9 straight days of Simbang Gabi, God will grant our prayers.

I love this when I was still young.  We are always excited when September comes. From our neighborhood to another street, we never get tired of visiting different houses while singing all the Christmas songs again and again just to receive a pamasko (cash gift).

Monito Monita.

One of the exciting activities at Christmas is the exchange gifts. Each participant has his/her own secret Santa who gives them gifts. This could be done in schools, homes, organizations, friends, and community.

Christmas is much celebrated everywhere in the world and it is unique among all the holidays and birthdays that we recognize. Why, because Christmas is not all about the gifts under the tree, the cash bonus we may receive from our employers, who has the best Christmas decorations, the dinner celebration, but it’s all about the season of great joy, where God shows his great love to us.

Going Home

I arrived at the Philippine airport safely and sound. The eight hours travel was quite good and smooth, thanks be to God. But unfortunately, my domestic flight (Manila to Davao City) was canceled and have to wait for another eight hours or to be a lucky chance passenger I could hope for.

I really wanted to be furious to my travel agent who wasn’t able to rebook my ticket earlier. I wanted to blame the airline for giving us this trouble not only because we are tired, but we couldn’t afford to waste a single day, you know we treat our Christmas vacation with a high importance.

But of course, we cannot control everything. I can’t manage my travel agent’s carelessness, the fact that I may never know what was going on in the aircraft too. We cannot control what is going to happen, but we can control our reaction, right?

So I’m totally fine and I will not fight with anyone, even my ass is aching from sitting, my legs are hurting, my body is shivering and my eyes are dying to sleep. Instead, I would think that my family is patiently waiting for me.

I’m going home to the place where I belong.

“It’s like one of those scenes from a feel-good Hollywood movie. Where everybody is happy and nobody’s hair fizzes in the wind. Where it doesn’t rain, your shoes stay comfortable all day, and everybody’s jokes are funny and turning the page is the best feelings in the world. Ahhh it feels so good.”

You’re sparkly and light like a soda pop
But you fill my head with a fuzz
When I drink you, I never want to stop
I just want to keep building my buzz.

And at times, I cheat on you with whiskey
Sometimes vodka, tequila, or rum
But I know when I’m gone that you miss me
And I’m sorry for being so dumb.

You’re perfect for burgers or pizza
And sometimes, you’re great on your own
But when I drink, I usually don’t eat much
I’d rather get full on the foam.

Dear Beer, you are such an old, dear friend
I’ve known you and loved you so long
You’re always there for me to depend
Thank you sweet beer, and my bong.

“And I realized that some things just don’t work that way. Life isn’t a fairy tale. And the person you fall in love with doesn’t always love you back. But that’s ok because at the very least it makes you stronger and brings you to a place where you can fall in love with yourself.

And that to me is more important than finding someone that only makes you complete when they are around, it’s really about finding the person that will teach you ALL the lessons you need to know so that you feel complete all by yourself. ”

Goodbye summer. Hello, winter.

Al Mamzar Park is my favorite beach park here in Dubai.  They have all the facilities you needed for; beach amenities,  barbeque areas, swimming pools, children game areas and etc. Entrance fees are reasonable for AED 5 per person, AED 30 per car and free for people with special needs and kids below 2 years old.

If you don’t want to mingle with the big crowd, it is better to go on weekdays (Sunday-Thursday) and Saturday.  Friday is too crowded since it’s a weekend here in Dubai.

Let’s enjoy the beach! the weather is kinda super nice.

Meet the future LIFEGUARD.

Sea Food Fiesta!

Share the blessings with anyone!

“After nourishment, shelter, and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.”

Let’s enjoy life, eat well and laugh often!

I think I have learned anything about friendship, it’s to hang in, stay connected, fight for them, and let them fight for you. Don’t walk away, don’t be distracted, don’t be too busy or tired, don’t take them for granted. True friendship reveals itself through adversity.
