Cast: Hwang Jung-Min / Kim Yunjin / Oh Dal-Su

This movie became my favorite instantly, it’s perfect.

The cinematography is absolutely stunning. The plot is flawlessly well written. The transition between the present and the past is executed purely.  It takes you to some of the big parts of Korean history.

I think I cried for an hour and my heart tugs at my heartstrings.  I was into this man’s extraordinary life throughout scenes of laughing and weeping.

This movie is truly an epic.Beautiful.

Verdict: 10/10

I’m not going to lie. I really don’t like this drama in the Korean version.

I love musical drama, but in here, the music seems to become exhausted because conflict is an integral part of the plot, it was overloaded to handle.

For the first few episodes, it was fun to watch, but then they failed the consistency to set back the settings of what a musical drama should be.  The balance of melody has been turned off and the harmony vanished by adversities.

Only this drama showcase an enjoyable music list and fresh faces. Aside from that, nothing stands.

Verdict: 6/10

It’s the first thing I always say at our new employee training seminars. I gaze around the room, pick one person, and have him stand up. And this is what I say: I have some good news for you and some bad news. The bad news first. We’re going to have to rip off either your fingernails or your toenails with pliers. I’m sorry, but it’s already decided. It can’t be changed.

I pull out a huge, scary pair of pliers from my briefcase and show them to everybody. Slowly, making sure everybody gets a good look. And then I say: Here’s the good news. You have the freedom to choose which it’s going to be—your fingernails, or your toenails. So, which will it be? You have ten seconds to make up your mind. If you’re unable to decide, we’ll rip off both your fingernails and your toenails.

I start the count.

At about eight seconds most people say, ‘The toes.’ Okay, I say, toenails it is. I’ll use these pliers to rip them off. But before I do, I’d like you to tell me something. Why did you choose your toes and not your fingers? The person usually says, ‘I don’t know. I think they probably hurt the same. But since I had to choose one, I went with the toes.’

I turn to him and warmly applaud him. And I say, Welcome to the real world.”

Dubai’s here & there

Winter has ended here in Dubai, and it means summer with extreme hot, windy and humid is about to come.  I hate going out in summer, no one will love the temperature around 41 °C for sure.  So, winter is a little paradise to us where we can enjoy the short period of warmness.

I went here and there and took some pictures while visiting some places.

The weather feels like heaven; warm and relaxing.

Camel is part of UAE’s rich heritage. It is famously known as the ship of the desert. Historically, camels in the UAE were a dependable source of not only transport but also food and milk.

Never miss to experienced the most popular tourist activity in Dubai with adventure and thrilling ride, Desert Safari.

Aliwagwag Falls is one of the most visited natural attractions in Davao Oriental, Philippines.  It is also considered as the country’s highest waterfalls. It has s a series of more than 130 cascading waterfalls with different rock formations, shapes, and various heights.  Aliwagwag falls looks like a stairway to heaven that’s why it’s regarded as one of the most beautiful falls in the Philippines.”

My friends and I went to this falls in the midst of approaching typhoon in Mindanao, Philippines.  At that time of travel, there was a low-pressure area consisted with rains and massive winds.

I admit it was a little scary to travel because we need to pass some places which prone to a landslide on the mountain or the rock falls. Since we don’t have much free time after the holiday break, still we went there with full of excitement.

We arrived at noon time safe and sound.

Because of the typhoon, Aliwagwag falls water current was so madly strong and it was really dangerous at that moment to enjoy the majestic flow.

We were instructed that we can still swim in some parts of the falls where it was safe and it was on the top view.

Despite the bad weather, we’re still able to visit the splendid falls and enjoy the scenery. Aside from that, I was with my son and good friends to complete the fun we hoped to experience.

I ❤❤❤ YOU

My last vacation in the Philippines was quite peaceful and sweet.  Most of the time, I stayed only at home and hanging out with my son. It was not really an extravagant vacation as what other people expected. In fact, It was really my plan to spend my 35 days with my family especially with my kid.

During my entire break, I have seen some changes with my son. He is no longer my baby, but not quite a teenager too. He doesn’t want to be kissed and hugged in the public. We don’t walk together holding hands, but he just put his arms around me. He keeps on checking with my schedules when he was at school and never skip a day without following me around.

We both still love watching movies and do some food trips. He never has the patience to wait for me when I do shop. He’s not a branded person, to buy a casing for his cell phone is a major spending for him. Still, he doesn’t want me to wear shorts and sexy dresses. When I put some dark eyebrow makeup, he said ew, that I don’t look good at all. He just wanted me to be simple and unnoticed.

We never stop talking about this and that. He still sleeps in my room. I always reprimanded him for being lazy and giving too much attention to his mobile and play station. I am happy that he has good friends around, who helped him to improve his personality from being a killjoy to cool guy. See, he talks with my friends now, unlike before. Yes, still he has his mood swings, but it becomes irregular now.

We still argue and fight, but we knew we always have each other.

If I am still in the Philippines today, he would be my pretty date.

Who says Valentine’s Day is exclusive only for lovers?  We can date anyone!

Happy ❤❤❤ day to all 🙂

The Legend of the Blue Sea (K-drama)

Sometime during August 1598, newly appointed governor Dam Ryung (Lee Min-Ho) stays for a night at an inn run by Mr. Yang (Sung Dong-Il). During that evening, Mr. Yang shows Dam Ryung a captured mermaid named Sim Chung (Gianna Jun). Later that night, Dam Ryung releases her into the ocean and, before she swims away, Sim Chung reaches out her hand to Dam Ryung which he briefly holds.
In the present day, Joon-Jae (Lee Min-Ho) is a smooth-talking conman with magician like abilities. He works with Nam-Doo (Lee Hee-Joon) and Tae-O (Shin Won-Ho). For their next score, Joon-Jae impersonates a prosecutor and swindles a large amount of money from a wealthy suspect’s mother. Joon-Jae then travels abroad and stays at an oceanside resort. Meanwhile, Sim Chung is swept up in a tidal wave and washed ashore near the oceanside resort. She sees Joon-Jae.

This drama is like my comfort food; warm and familiar.

The legend of the blue sea managed to bring the characters into satisfying portrayal. The relationship of the two main leads stands out as the finest legend of sweetness and impressive fairytale.

Though we have Lee Min-Ho and Gianna Jun’s combined talent, the story writing has not become the perfect drama at all. It was predictable, and though there was an appearing of slight twist and turns, still there was no element of surprise. It was just so enjoyable and relaxing to watch, avoiding you not to be pestered with any inconsistencies that weighed down from numerous episodes.

The finale of the show seized with lots of emotions, apparently with goodbyes and reunions,  plus lots of love and kisses. They wrap-up all with perfections, giving everyone a happy and satisfying ending.

I’m pretty sure you will leave the screen with a big smile and a happy heart.

Verdict: 8/10

Annyeong-haseyo everyone!

Just have some fun wearing this HANBOK, a Korean tradional dress during JOSEON period.

I love to watch Korean historical dramas which caused me interest of their classical and elegant attire. I was just wondering how could they even carry with such heavy dress gracefully.  I can’t move fast while wearing the hanbok, I was even sweating, but I truly enjoyed it. I feel like I was doing kdramas too!

This is a scheduled post.

Possibly, I’m in Dubai airport right now as one of the thousand rush travelers going home for Christmas. Yes, I will be traveling to the Philippines to spend the holidays with my family. I am just so excited!

I haven’t celebrated the Christmas and New Year with them for eight years. At least now, I am allowed to leave in this season, our company audit will be on summer so it never complicates my schedule. I am so free!

I might be very busy this week, so I want to greet you all in advance a Merry Christmas and have a wonderful New Year.  May we always have the spirit of blogging and sharing for the next year.

ESCAPADE (Hatta Mountain)

Honestly, I am not an adrenaline junkie person always looking for a big adventure. I was just so bored last weekend that I decided to tag myself along with my friends from their little hiking adventure. The truth is, I was only aware that we are heading to one of the most beautiful and popular destinations for adventuring far from the city of Dubai. With excitement, I have never picture anything, except the camp out and to see the pretty scenery LAKE of HATTA MOUNTAIN.

The hike was easy for them, but not for me. I have never expected to walk more than thirty minutes in this wide, up and down, rocky road. I had to stop to catch my breath, complain a little with smile and drank a lot of water. I was just hoping that walking would end so soon.

To my surprise, the journey wasn’t just merely a steep hike. Of course, we need to take slope from the slack ground and rocks before we could reach to our destination.  My friends said it was manageable by someone like me, but of course I didn’t buy it.  Even though they guided me for almost one hour, I could still feel my knees shaking, I was frightened because tripping was a big quite hazardous.

I told my friends I gave up, but they don’t care about my words. They wanted me to experience the things that I thought was just a dream. They’d like me to accomplish something far from my comfort zone.

And yes, I did it!

Now, let’s enjoy the lovely spots!

Thank you for the terrifying, but wonderful experience.

Kubo and the Two Strings (Movie 2016)

An Impressive Emotional Animated Film.

How I will not love this film? Our Kubo has a remarkable personality of a loving, kind and brave young man. Along with his knight and puppets, it was fun to hear his magic tale with the melody of his magic guitar, blended with suitable costume designs, the dazzling stop-motion animation style and the story that balances with humor and dark moments.

The voice cast also amazingly fits in the story. The line was delivered clearly with probing the emotions near to reality.  It wasn’t hard to relate. It wasn’t difficult not to laugh and cry.

I had a wonderful and exciting adventure with Kubo. I hope you have some too.

Verdict: 9/10

“The struggle for acceptance is a struggle that begins with loss.

You may have lost someone so important that your life threatens to collapse into emptiness.

You may have lost faith in all-good, all powerful God.

You may have lost a relationship with someone who made you feel safe and good about yourself.

You may have lost freedom or control or a dream, shelter or safety or survival.

Search among the ashes of despair for the embers of courage.

God will rekindle your spirit.

“Spend time with nice people who are smart, driven & like minded. Relationships should help you. Life is too short to spend time with people who hurt you without remorse, take you for granted, disrespect you & make you unhappy.

Surround yourself with people who reflect the person you want to be, who are uplifting, positive & true.

Choose friends who you are proud to know, people you admire, who love and respect you – people who make your day a little brighter simply by being in it. ♥

What is success? How do I define it with my own experience and defeats? Well, I have my own definitions, maybe most of you would not agree.

I only considered success when I was at school, fantasizing I could achieve anything when I fly out to the real world.  At this instant, I ceased to think about it – anymore.  I am in the midst of battle, and when you are in combat, you could no longer think of success, but only how to live and to survive.

“Success is the achievement of something planned or attempted.

Survival is staying alive or in existence despite of.”

I just thought, success is only for those who have enormous courage to fight for their own dreams – from those who have tried to block their victory and even have the ability to control their destiny. Success is not to those who are afraid to take risks, who has only limited imaginations, not for those who can’t fully trust themselves and who worries too much to fail.

You can have success if you are brave.

You can survive if you don’t choose.

How can I be successful when I am just following the flow, when lifting the burden only I can carry. I don’t go beyond what I cannot do. I have never tried to surpass afar. I am just too comfortable in my comfort zone.

My survival is my success.

Let me unload you
This is so far I can go
I’m scared you weighing me down
I pray, with the wind you will gone.

Stop punishing me
for whatever I did you see
Seeking solace with such distaste
Unbearable, I could no longer take.

I will take you
out of me
Don’t need the heavy crown
To whip my sanity.

I have stumbled, but learned
Enough of your darkest game
Let me free you with my sharpened Faith
To the world, I give it all the way.

In response to the Daily Post Challenge: BURDEN

Eight Years of kicking

10 Things I have learned as an OFW in Dubai.

  1. Always store rice, eggs , sardines, coffee and water, you will never know when the storm comes.

  2. Maintain an excel sheet for your personal income and expenses, receivable and payable.
  3. Keep at least AED 100.00 monthly to your bank or piggy bank.
  4. Don’t starve yourself. And never spoiled your food nor throw the left over in the trash, not all OFW can eat decently 3x a day.
  5. “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”, mind your own business.
  6. If you want to say NO, say it. Don’t be afraid to turn down favors.
  7. Wait to avail buy one take one, promos and discounts, it wouldn’t hurt your pride. And of course, buy only for what you need.
  8. Pay your SSS, Pag-ibig and Philhealth regularly. There is no pension program for expat.
  9. Live for what you pay.
  10. Need to plan your future. What am I going to do after all of this?

Well, we won’t stop learning every day. At times, there is a new horizon to deal and problems to unravel, but that is life. What we do is what makes our being worth, in any forms, in any ways, it all does matter.

I am in my eight years now. Still hoping for the best and luck!

Exchange Partner

When you realize that you wore a different shoe for the whole day 🙂

Why I haven’t noticed it? Simply because they were both comfortable and still took me to my direction.

Alice Through the Looking Glass

“When the day becomes the night and the sky becomes the sea, When the clock strikes heavy and there’s no time for tea. And in our darkest hour, before my final rhyme, she will come back home to Wonderland and turn back the hands of time.”- Mad Hatter

This movie isn’t as bad as the critics say. It was still good to be back in wonderland. As what Absolem told; “you’ve been gone too long, Alice. There are matters which might benefit from your attention. Friends cannot be neglected. Hurry.”
